Dear Lia,

1. Yes, you have brought up a very good question.

2. However, the Key Success Factor here is to take The Five Elements Concept to a higher step.

3. Hint: It has to do more with the concept of Strong or Weak.

4. Drawing a parallel, in Ba Zi, one must ensure that one get one's element not only correct but also whether it is `strong' or `weak'.

5. Unfortunately, for Xuan Kong or Flying Star Theory, many of the bad earth belong to the Strong Element.

6. For example #2 and #5 are strong earth element.

7. When countering strong earth, one should where possible avoid wood element.

8. No doubt, wood is acceptable to destroy weak earth. But it is not a good solution to destroy strong earth.

9. The reason is because Wood will give strenght to Fire. Fire, will in turn assist Earth.

10. When it produces fire, wood will be weaken, it will no longer be able to destroy fire. And fire will increase earth. A double edged sword cure.

11. Metal is different because it draws strength from earth.

12. Another separate situation is that Metal is the safest element to use because in the Flying star model, in situations where water positions can be added, Metal supports water and vice versa. This is really the `wealth' model of Flying Star Feng Shui as oppose to locating wealth at the fancy of individual practitioners.

13. Therefore, I hope you can see the logic behind why Metal is a safer solution than wood.

Warmest Regards,
Cecil
