Dear Tom,

Further to what I mentioned earlier, here are some other considerations:-

1. Symbolism is important in Feng Shui.

I am not sure about natural crysals or gemstones but the shape preceeds material used.

For example, for a piece of wood shaped like a pyramid, although its natural element is wood; but because it has taken the form of a pyramid, it should now be classified as a `fire element'.

Alternatively, the piece of wood has been shaped like a pyramid and painted red. Here, red = fire element would also make it as a fire element.

2. Traditional Feng Shui is all about the Five elements concept: Water, Wood, Fire, Earth and Metal elements.

Although, the methology or methods used may differ greatly by the various Traditional Feng Shui school, the way the five elements is used should be similar. The application depends on how well, the FS school knows how to apply the Five Elements concept.

3. Thus, we come to the point: each material or object can be classified under a specific element in Feng Shui.

Although there may be differing views on classification of materials, one cannot discount the fact that i.e. cyrstals (or geniune crystals) come from the earth.

Some FS practioners may have slightly differing views and could perhaps classify it as water element.

But, in my opinion, it is most likely considered the " Earth element " especially if it is the raw material.

4. What is the difference here? Why mention Earth element?

Unfortunately under Flying Star Feng Shui, the two most `fearful' numberology numbers are #5 and #2.

4.1 #5 and #2 are both EARTH elements

4.2 #5 is known as misfortune.

4.3 #2 is known as sickness.

5. Since cyrstal or such rocks or gems could be classified as EARTH elements, many professional FS practitioners are more cautious about giving advice such as using crystals or gemstones as cures.

6. It would be different if these `crystals' or gemstones or artifical stones are moulded into objects that result in them symbolising an object.

7. Thus, it would be fine or acceptable if these EARTH objects are made into dragon figurine or say a tortise paper weight.

Here, under symbolism, instead of being representing the EARTH element, they are now symbolically represent an item. It is thus common for FS practitioners to advise the use e.g. crystal dragons or a marble torties paper weight to add to the mountain star (when it is found) at an appropriate location.

8. In Flying Star charts, we can find at each sector (there are 9 sectors in total):-

# mountain star + # water star
--------------------------
on a base number

9. Since there are nine sectors, the #5 can appear in say the mountain star # at NE and it can also appear in another sector as a #water star.

There is also the base number #5 to watch.

Similiarly we have to watch out #2.

Hopefully, if they can be `concentrated' in one sector e.g. NE such that

#5 #5
5

Would be nice. But unfortunately, what happens if #5 is scattered all over the 9 grids?

This would mean that instead of applying just one 6 coins (metal cure) to neutralise #5s; we now may have to apply metal cure to many sectors.

Furthermore, here, the chance of placing too much earth i.e. crystal could result in more bad earth.

9. My opinion, is that if one collects crystals /gemstones, it is more for the love of collecting them and not to base it on FS.

Warmest Regards,
Cecil
